Assessment Drawing
Contrast and variation of strokes
This was a good practice and introduction to the pen and ink unit because I made different types of pen strokes.
pen value
Stippling on geometric shapes
This assignment gives a shape made by stippling and I had to copy it using stippling as well.
Pattern Elements
For the assignment on the left, I had to copy the patterns given. The assignment on the right was about creating original patterns
100 texture squares
100 small squares I had to make and fill them each with a different pen and ink texture.
pen and ink project
1. I created my composition based off my 100 texture squares. I used darker textures at the bottom of the chicken to show shadow so I think my composition was successful.
2. Texture and pattern in my artwork because it shows depth and shadow. It also is appealing to the eye.
3. Value is very important in this project. It is very important because it gives the art work differences in depth and without it my chicken would look more flat.
4. I personally don't like my craftsmanship on this artwork. I think this because I made the chicken too fat and I didnt really want to draw a chicken.
5.By using my knowledge and practice I had a widespread amount of ideas for my project. For example, the 100 texture squares I made gave me plenty of values to use for my art.
6. When applying my pen and ink it is important to understand concepts we learned in class because then my work won't look good. Using the instruction taught, I can have more detailed and intricate designs.
7. This project helped guide me for future projects. It helped me understand the importance of planning what I will create.
8. If I could recreate this project, I would not do a chicken. I would just draw a rose or roses because that is my favorite part of my artwork.

Water color textures
Introduction to the water color unit, I learned about water color textures I never knew existed.
water color apple
A water color apple I painted using different gradients of light and shadow.
4 water color techniques
Four types of water color; cool colors, warm colors, water color pencil, and one color.
Water color final project
Shown above are photos of my final project in progress.
1. To make my watercolor strawberry, I had to use layers of masking fluid to block off areas I didn't want to paint. By doing this I could have consistent layers of paint that had good contrast compared to the painting as a whole.
2. I had difficulties with when and where to place masking fluid. I also had difficulty with getting the right consistency of red paint.
3. From this project I learned how to spread paint and how to mix colors to find the right strawberry red color. I also learned how using masking fluid is useful and that it is easier than it looks once I got a hang of it.
4. If I were to do this project again, I would make sure I mask off the background to leave it empty. I would also try make the change from light to dark more gradual on the strawberry.
5. Using layers and textures was very useful in this project was very helpful. It was helpful because continuously layering red helped me find the perfect tone of a strawberry.
6. I think the mini lessons on water color were useful. I liked them because it helped me understand aspects about water color I did not know before such as how the color dries lighter than how it looks.
7. Having a guest artist was an awesome experience for me. It was great because he gave me confidence in what I was doing and he could give us tips along the way of making our paintings.
8. Some good insight I got from the professional artist is that its ok to make a mistake because you can always adapt to it. I also got a better understanding of art on how it can be fun if you can create something that appeals to you.
